Full Page Screen Capture A simple Google Chrome extension that takes a screen capture of a full web page. Every extension I tried couldn’t do this on Chrome 22 on Mac OSX Lion. So, I built this one to reliably do it. (Not tested, yet, on any other configurations.) To Install For development:. Clone this repo. Open up Chrome and go to the extensions page (Window → Extensions). Enable developer mode (if it’s not already).
Click on “Load unpacked extension”. Select the folder for this app From the webstore: Find the in the Chrome Webstore and click install. (NOTE: the webstore version is now running on a private branch of this repo and will have more updates.) Extra notes:.

It is not a very complicated process and can be helpful if you need the screenshot clipping of an article for research purposes or a project. There are many ways you can take screenshots of a webpage. You can either take a screenshot of what is on your screen right now like this: or you can snap shots of a specific part or block of a website like this: You can also do full page screenshots like this one: Here I will show you how you can take 3 types of webpage screenshot in different browsers. Taking screenshots of:. Currently Displaying Content Now you can do this without the help of any program or plugin just by simply pressing the Window + Print Scrn keys in Windows & Shift+Command (⌘)+3 if you are using Mac. This will capture whatever is visible on your desktop, like your web browser window, your start bar etc. Now I know most of you people already know about this so i am going to move on to show you how you can do this inside your Web Browser.
Chrome: Chrome does not have out-of-the-box screenshot features like Edge & Firefox. But you can do it with a small extension called Lightshot. You can install Lightshot from chrome web store and after this extension is installed you just have to click on this icon: A new window will pop-up asking you to select the area you want to save as screenshot. You can save the pic on your PC or laptop and even share it on social media sites if you like.
Firefox: Fortunately, Firefox has an inbuilt screenshot tool to help you take pics of your web pages. To take a screenshot of the content which is currently displaying on your screen, click on the three dots on the left to the URL bar. Click on ‘ Take a Screenshot‘ and select ‘ Save Visible‘ from the top-right side.
You are done, you either save the screenshot online or save it locally on your computer. Edge: Edge also has an inbuilt option to take snaps of your web pages. When on your desired webpage, look on the top-right side of the page you will find an icon named ‘Add Notes’ there. Click on it and select ‘Clip’ from there. Now bring the pointer to the top-left side of the page and drag it to the bottom-right part of the page. Now click save and your clipping will be saved on Microsoft’s OneNote app.
Taking Screenshot of a Specific Block or Section of the Page Like inbuilt screenshot features, Mac & Windows also have inbuilt tools to take screenshots of certain selected areas. On Mac you can do this by holding Shift+Command(⌘)+4 together, you will see a Crosshair on screen and you can drag it over on your desired section of the website to take a screenshot. If you are using any version of windows after XP like 7, 8 or win 10 you can use Snipping tool which comes pre-installed with windows. Bring your Browser’s Window to the front. Open the tool.
Select rectangular snip on the Mode section and click on new. Drag the Crosshair while holding down the left mouse button. Click on save snip and save it in your desired location, you are done.
You can also do this with the help of your Web Browsers. On Chrome, install Lightshot from the Chrome Webstore, once installed, while on your desired website, click on this icon, which has appeared next to your URL bar.
A new window will pop-up with your website loaded on it. While holding right mouse button drag the cursor over your desired block of content. If you use Firefox you can do this by launching the Screenshot tool, click on the three dots present on the far right side of your address bar. Select ‘ Take a Screenshot‘ from there. You can either select a section of the page by clicking on it or by using the crosshair to select the desired section by yourself. In Edge you can do this by using their ‘ Add Notes‘ feature, it offers many nice tools but the one which we need is the Clip. Click on this icon, which is on the top-right section next to the address bar.
Select Clip from there and use the provided crosshair to select your content block. Take a full Webpage Screenshot For a full webpage screenshot on Chrome, you can use the extension called Fireshot.
You can install this and click Ctrl+Shift+Y on windows devices to take a full webpage screenshot or alternatively you can also click on its icon next to the address bar to do the same. To do this on Firefox you can use the in-built screenshot tool which we have mentioned before. While on the webpage, open the Screenshot option and choose ‘Save full webpage’ from the top-right corner. And lastly, on Edge use the Clip feature from the ‘Add Notes’ tool. When the crosshair appears, place it on the top left section of the page and drag it to the bottom right while holding the left click.
Keep holding the left mouse button and use the scroll wheel to go to the end of the page. One more interesting thing that you try to do if you only want the text on the web page is actually saving the page as a pdf copy on your device. Press Ctrl+P on Windows. Now, this Print dialog box will pop up. Select Microsoft Print to PDF.
This will save all the text on the web page as a pdf file. So this concludes my article on taking different types of web page screenshots in Edge, Chrome & Firefox.
